Training as a mathematical-technical software developer (MATSE)

The Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design at RWTH Aachen University has been a training centre for mathematical-technical software developers since 1998. In parallel to the 3-year training at the institute, in which we work closely with the scientific staff of our institute, a MATSE trainee completes a Bachelor's degree in "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science" at the University of Applied Sciences Aachen, Department Jülich.

Mathematical-technical software developers are entrusted with various tasks at our institute, e.g. the conception, realization and maintenance of software systems based on mathematical models for our challenging research projects. The mathematical-technical software developers support the project work, especially by programming.

Our goal is to convey the close connection between practice, research and further education. On the one hand, our offer includes the realization of software products, on the other hand, there are unique possibilities to investigate problems together profitably on a real model and to make solutions applicable and tangible.
