Silent Air Taxi
Note: historically there are several projects in Aachen called "Silent Air Taxi". If you are interested in the commercial project of the e.SAT GmbH you can contact them here.
The LuFo V-3 project “Silent Air Taxi” is a cooperation between RWTH Aachen institutes to investigate On-Demand Air Mobility concepts for regional transport.
The Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design (SLA) focuses on innovative structural concepts with the goal of reducing the structural mass, costs and certification complexity of small aircraft. Two of the structural concepts considered are sandwich structures with printed cores as well as truss systems using innovative materials. Besides weight and production aspects, structural health monitoring (SHM) is also regarded to improve the structural safety of the aircraft while reducing maintenance costs.
This project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy through the research program Luftfahrtforschungsprogramms LuFo V-3.
